Additionally, the condenser outside houses a compressor with a motor to pump refrigerant. The condenser fan motor moves air across the outdoor coils to dispel the heat that is generated from compressing the refrigerant. If any of these motors malfunction, your air conditioner will not operate correctly until it is repaired.
HVAC systems operate with refrigerant in a closed-loop system. Ideally, the same refrigerant will last as long as the system does. But if a refrigerant leak develops, you can lose refrigerant, causing the air conditioner to not work as effectively. For your heating and cooling system to work properly, you'll need an HVAC technician to find the leak, repair it, and replace any lost refrigerant.
